Will fans be able to travel to the Caribbean?
We think so.
With the Covid-19 situation constantly changing it is impossible for us to give a definitive answer. However with the success of the vaccine rollout in the UK leading to the ending of restrictions and the return of fans in stadiums we are extremely hopeful that next year’s tour will be business as usual.
What happened in the last West Indies v England series?
You may recall how Jason Holder’s team saved our summer of cricket by entering the bubble and providing much needed cricketing entertainment as we experienced lockdown life.
England won the Test series 2-1 as the West Indies impressed with Jermaine Blackwood, Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach.
Who will be playing for England in the series?
The series will take place following a long but exciting Winter for England.
England are favourites for the T20 World Cup which will take place in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. All being well, the series against the West Indies could be an early opportunity to get a glimpse of the world champions of the short format of the game.
World number 1 T20 batsman Dawid Malan will look to impress amongst England’s strong batting line up that boasts Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy and captain Eoin Morgan.
In terms of bowlers, England possess quicks Mark Wood, the Curran brothers and Barbadian-born ace Jofra Archer, alongisde spinning maestros Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Matt Parkinson.
The tour also comes off the back of The Ashes. Not since the days of Strauss, Cook & Swann have England possessed a side strong enough to challenge Australia down under.
If The Ashes takes place with no fans, the Test series against the West Indies will give an opportunity for us to watch our England heroes on tour for the first time in three years.
Look out for a resurgent Joe Root who will be flanked by Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad, who consistently defy age and seem to be getting better and better.
