Venatour Activity Breaks

Would you like an activity break with a difference? Have you been visiting the same place every year and fancy a change? Venatour are now offering you the chance to do just that with our new Activity Breaks!

Using St Davids, Britain’s smallest city, as our base we have created 3 and 5-day packages full of adrenaline and educational based activities that will leave your group with a positive experience and memories that will last a lifetime. St Davids is in the heart of Britain’s only coastal national park, surrounded on three sides by water with it’s famous 12th century Cathedral.

With two accommodation options and full board catering available, all your needs can be catered for, so you are rested and well fed to keep those energy levels high.

We have created an example itinerary which we think maximises your time in St Davids however we can tailor it to your needs if you have specific outcomes for the week, whether that be more action or education! A full list of all the activities available can be found inside the brochure.

St Davids
St Davids

Our base is in St Davids, Britain’s smallest city and home of the magnificent 12th Century Cathedral. Being on the most westerly tip of Wales we are surrounded on three sides by water, which has its own unique and fascinating tidal flows, islands and community.

The area is not only visually stunning with its crystal clear water, blue flag beaches, hidden coves and magical villages it is also steeped in history, is of geological importance and array with unique aerial and marine wildlife.

We use this natural beauty as a playground for an adrenaline packed activity break that will leave any young person with a positive experience and memory for life.

Whether you are taking part in a rib ride, surfing lesson, kayaking, rock pooling or walking a coastal path, our guides will not only make it enjoyable, but educational with the children (and group leaders) learning about the history and legend of the area. Water safety such as how rip tides work and how to keep safe; the migrating; breeding and feeding habits of the wildlife and even what fauna you can eat and not… to name but a few.

This information and learning is very much interactive and built into our fun sessions in a way that many young people react to better.

Bunk Barn

There are two options for accommodation, both come highly recommended for their quality of service, cleanliness, comfort and value for money and are ideal safe locations for groups.

A newly developed family run 100-bed unit, situated on a working farm, two fields from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path overlooking St Brides Bay and the wonderful little beach of Caerfai, only 0.5 miles from the centre of St Davids. The dorms are 6 to a room with a large dining area where your hosts, Rob and Christine, serve wholesome homemade food.

A 64 bedded unit split between two bunk houses on its own rural site situated 1.5 miles from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and magnificent Newgale beach. The site has its own high ropes course, games room with each dorm being a 6 bed unit with its own ensuite. The lodge has its own separate dining area where the chefs will serve up quality food.

Will be home cooked and prepared by qualified staff with an emphasis on quality and quantity. All dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice. We can also agree the week’s menu with staff prior to arrival, if required.

The most important meal of the day when you have an energy-sapping adventure-packed day ahead of you. Breakfast includes cereals, toast, yogurt, porridge and cooked breakfast.

After working up an appetite, it’s time to refuel and depending on the day’s schedule, will decide on whether we are on-site in the dining hall or having a packed lunch at some of the fantastic locations around the peninsular. E.g. Sandwiches, paninis, chips, pasta dishes and jacket potato.

A good hearty and filling evening meal on-site will be just what is required following an action-packed day. E.g. Pasta dishes, fish & chips, curry/chilli, nachos, meat & veg plus a pudding.

The safety and safeguarding of our guests is our number one priority. You will have adventure, fun and the odd adrenaline rush, but this will be done in an environment that we will control, so that all you have to worry about is the enjoyment aspect of the break.

Our partners and instructors are experienced and qualified in their chosen fields and are registered with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) as required in law by the Health and Safety Executive. Please click here for more information.

All the accommodation sites that we use are experienced providers in hosting small and large groups – and are fully compliant with building and fire regulations.

All the food providers have a minimum qualification in food hygiene service and preparation, and the premises have been inspected and graded by the environmental health officer.

We appreciate the need for schools or organisations taking young persons on breaks may require copies of certain documents. Please ask your agent for these during the booking process and they will be sent to you.
