Newington College Cricket Tour | Venatour Schools
Following the success of their 2017 trip, Venatour had the pleasure of creating another bespoke cricket tour for Newington College when the tour operator hosted the Australian school earlier this summer.
First up was an opportunity to explore some of London’s most famous landmarks such as Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square before supporting their national team as they thrashed rivals New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup at the legendary Oval stadium.
Inspired by their heroes, both the 1st XI and Development XI played fixtures against Coggeshall CC, Essex. The picturesque main ground staged a 40 over game between the side from Sydney and the hosts, who have been established since 1840.
After exchanging memorabilia over a BBQ with their hosts, Newington set off for a four-night stay at Felsted School for the 33rd edition of the annual Felsted Cricket Festival.

When the festival was over, Newington journeyed to the West of England. On their trip, they stopped off at Cranleigh School to play two fixtures. Despite the 1st XI losing, they put on an impressive batting display, including this cut from Bird:
The tourists arrived at King Edwards School, Bath soon after for more cricketing action. After another picturesque setting played host to their fixture, the team had a few days to relax and explore the Roman city.
The Australian outfit then continued their tour to play fixtures against schools from Dorchester, Portsmouth, and Orpington before heading back to London for more sightseeing in the final few days of the tour.
Here at Venatour, we would like to extend our thanks to the team and the staff. We hope that the memories created on tour will be unforgettable!
