New faces in New Zealand for England
Tomorrow will see England begin their tour of New Zealand with a T20 match in Christchurch which will somewhat mark the start a new era for English Cricket.
Chris Silverwood has taken over as Head Coach from Trevor Bayliss who stood down after the Ashes series in the summer. Silverwood was bowling coach under Bayliss and part of the World Cup winning coaching team.
With many of England’s white-ball regulars rested for this tour, the squad contains five uncapped players who will all be looking to become a fixture in the T20 squad.
Somerset’s Tom Banton is one of the most exciting limited-over batmen in county cricket. He scored 549 runs in 13 matches in the T20 Blast this summer. He will be looking to bring that form to the top the order.
Banton’s Somerset teammate Lewis Gregory, Worcestershire’s Pat Brown and Lancashire duo Matt Parkinson and Saqib Mahmood are also all included.
This is an exciting opportunity for the new players as England prepare to build towards next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
