MERANO, ITALY
Friday 27th September to Monday 30th September 2024
Merano is a beautiful Spa town in South Tyrol, Northern Italy surrounded by majestic mountains. The area offers spectacular scenery, pleasant walks and spa resorts.
Merano is known as ‘the pearl of South Tyrol’ and really is a special place for a weekend of racing. The town’s streets are lined with Palm Trees overlooking the many restaurants, cafes and bars.
We have two days of National Hunt action with the highlight being The Gran Premio Merano which dates back to 1935 and is proud to be part of the prestigious Crystal Cup Series. This cross country race is held on the Sunday and is often frequented by horses from all over Europe.
On the final day, Verona will be our destination with enough time to do a sightseeing tour, lunch and even an early dinner. This stunning city is famous for the setting of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and will cap off a fantastic weekend!

Friday 27th September
- Flight from LGW to Verona
- Executive Coach transfer from Verona Airport to Merano, winding our way through the Northern Italian Vineyards and up towards the Alps
- Check In at the Hotel Villa Laurus for our 3 night stay
- Supper at Italian Restaurant within Merano (drinks not included)
Saturday 28th September
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Saturday is the lesser of the two day race meeting, you may decide to skip this day and explore the beautiful town of Merano or head up the mountain on the cable car. Alternatively, you have race day tickets and enjoy a more relaxed day of racing sampling the Italian wines!
- Evening at leisure, your Venatour guide can help with restaurant or bar options if required
Sunday 29th September
- Breakfast at the hotel
- It’s the big day of racing in Merano, we will take a gentle stroll to the course and lap up the atmosphere. It’s a fantastic spectacle at one of the most picturesque racecourses in the world!
- After racing, you have the rest of the late afternoon and evening at leisure.
Monday 30th September
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Coach transfer to Verona for our final day.
- Full Day in Verona to explore the city (options; private walking tour, lunch etc)
- Evening Flight from Italy
- Return Economy Flights from London Gatwick to Italy
- Return Airport Transfers
