Venatour Racing are delighted to be heading to Bad Harzburg in 2025 for their famous ‘Lake Racing Festival. Every summer this beautiful medieval town hosts a truly unique horse racing experience, blending elements of flat racing, steeplechase and a pure adrenalin rush, the races at Germany’s Bad Harzburg Racecourse are a true test of fitness and grit. Bad Harzburg hosts a series of steeplechases and hurdle races as well as races known locally as seejagdrennen, or lake races. That’s right, this course has a lake right there on the racetrack, deep enough that horses wade for a few meters before continuing on with their race……it’s a spectacle not to be missed!
The Harzburg saltwater spring bubbles up from a depth of 840 metres with a natural healing power that is unmatched in the Harz mountains. Nestled in Harz National Park, this spa town holds a leading position within Lower Saxony and is a hugely desirable location.
Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful inland spa resorts in the north of Germany, Bad Harzburg has seven springs unleashing powerful health benefits. Saltwater has been drawn from these springs for hundreds of years, with its healing powers being used for specific treatments since the 18th century. Thermal saltwater containing sulphur and sulphates is the key remedy given its positive impact on patients suffering from rheumatism, postural defects, asthma, chronic bronchitis and other conditions. Nature lovers are sure to be in their element in Bad Harzburg too since there are endless opportunities to get out and about in the great outdoors.
Thursday 17th July
- Morning economy flight from London Heathrow to Hannover with British Airways.
- Private coach transfers to Bad Harzburg.
- Check in to the 4* Romantik Braunschweiger Hof Hotel for your 4 night stay.
- Free afternoon to explore this beautiful area.
- This evening we have been invited to attend an exclusive BBQ & Drinks evening at the racecourse. (Food included and drinks to be purchased separately.)
Friday 18th July
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Today is a free day with so much to do including the Wellness & Spa Centre, Golf, Walking or the famous Tree Top Mountain Trail with the Flyline all located within the stunning Harz Mountains.
- Evening at leisure – plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Saturday 19th July
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Free morning to explore the city, all on your doorstep!
- 13.00 – Shuttle bus or walk to the racecourse for the 1st days racing.
- 14.00 – First race.
- Enjoy the days racing.
- After racing there will be a shuttle back to the hotel or you may prefer a stroll back into Bad Harzburg.
- Evening at leisure.
Sunday 20th July
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- 11.00 – Shuttle or walk to the racecourse.
- 11.30 – Private ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the racecourse including a chance to walk the course and see the ‘lake’.
- 14.00 Enjoy the days racing including the famous ‘lake race’.
- After racing we will head back to Bad Harzburg and have a table booked at a local restaurant for anybody wanting to join in with the last night of festivities.
Monday 21st July
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Private coach transfer to Hannover Airport.
- Late morning flight back to London Heathrow.
- Return economy flights from Heathrow to Hannover with British Airways.
- Return airport transfers.
- 4 night stay in the 4* Romantik Braunschweiger Hof Hotel.
- Breakfast each morning.
- Return shuttle transfers to the Racecourse on Saturday & Sunday.
- Race Day tickets for both days.
- Ticket to the exclusive BBQ event at the racecourse on Thursday evening.
