Tuesday 12th March

The opening day is a wonderful days racing beginning with the famous ‘Cheltenham Roar’ as the tapes go up for the Supreme Novices Hurdle! The highlight of the first day is the Champion Hurdle and the 2023 renewal did not disappoint with the equine superstar, Constitution Hill, bolting up with ease. The Tuesday also offers The Arkle, a speed test for novice chasers along with the stamina test of the National Hunt Chase.

Wednesday 13th March

The 2nd day offers another 7 race card with the opener being the Ballymore Novices Hurdle. The highlight of the day is the Champion Chase, won by Willie Mullins’ charge, Energumene in 2023. The cross country race is a spectacle and the novice chase is often a good trial for potential Gold Cup horses.

Thursday 14th March

Thursday of the festival is the first day where the racing is headed by a chase rather than a hurdle and the Turners Novice Chase opens proceedings. The Stayers Hurdle and the Ryanair Chase are the features with the ever popular Sire Du Berlais winning the 2023 renewal at a big price. This is another 7 race card and along with the rest of the week, offers extremely competitive and fantastic racing.

Friday 15th March

Last but definitely not least! The race everybody has been waiting for is on the final day, the Gold Cup is the pinnacle of jump racing and everybody involved in National Hunt racing dreams of winning the big one. The racing gets going with the youngsters taking stage in the Triumph Hurdle followed by an ultra competitive Country Hurdle and the Albert Bartlett long distance novice hurdle. The Gold Cup is next and the imperious Galopin Des Champs won the 2023 renewal from the gallant runner up, Bravemansgame. After the euphoria of the Gold Cup, the amateurs have their turn on the centre stage with the Fox Hunters and the meeting is completed by the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle.
