The land of the Long White Cloud

Touring the Island of the Long White Cloud is well worth the journey. Two contrasting islands, the more cosmopolitan North, offering the capital city Wellington, plenty of sightseeing and easy touring. The South Island is much more dramatic and is home to the adrenalin capital of the world, Queenstown.

You can get to New Zealand via the States or the Middle East – both offering exciting stopovers.

SPORTS & SEASONS

Rugby

Apr–Aug

Rugby in New Zealand needs little introduction. The one myth that needs dismissing is that every side is packed full of “All Blacks”. We can find plenty of schools which will be well matched with your standard.

Netball

Apr–Aug

Widely played at schools and clubs and one of the most popular girls sports in New Zealand, you can be sure of good competitive games.

Hockey

Apr–Aug

Both boys and girls hockey played throughout the country. Astro is available in all centers.

Football

Apr–Aug

Increasing in popularity all the time at schools as they offer a more varied curriculum.

Cricket

Sep–Mar

Touring New Zealand with cricket is a rarity – so you can be sure of a spectacular welcome. Play your matches in some of the most spectacular grounds in the world!

CULTURE

No trip to New Zealand is complete without experiencing the “Haka” – which is not just the preserve of rugby. A Hangi offers you the chance to try local Maori food cooked underground and if you are lucky you will have a chance to “kiss” noses with a local.

Activities

Rotorua is only smelly when you first arrive – you’ll soon get used to the scent of the sulpher! The hot spa is a great way to spend a few hours relaxing and soothing a few aching bones after a few games and the geysers are amazing!

In the south, Queenstown provides the venue for the Triple Challenge, including Rafting, Helicopter Ride and Jet Boating. If that isn’t enough for you, have a go at a Bungee Jump – but be sure to check you are covered by your insurance!

Accommodation

There is a good mix of billets, hotels and hostels available all around the North and South islands of New Zealand.
